Midsomer Norton RFC are delighted to announce the appointment of Lovejoy Chawatama as our new Head Coach ahead of the 2025/26 season!

The Bristol Bears prop is a respected figure both on and off the field, with a wealth of Premiership experience. Before his move to the West Country, the Zimbabwean spent six seasons at London Irish followed by a year at Harlequins. Chawatama is also no stranger to Community Rugby, having started his career playing at Beckenham as well as a season at our Counties 1 rivals Bridgwater.

A Level 3 qualified coach, Lovejoy has had successful coaching stints at Beckenham, Imperial College London and the University of the West of England.

“I am really thrilled to have been selected as the new head coach for MNRFC. After such a successful season and promotion for them this year, I am ready to hit the ground running with and continue the success for this whole club. I enjoy getting to know the players and what motivates them, both to help them succeed individually and as a team.”

If you are interested in joining our ambitious community club, preseason kicks off with our first session at Norton Down on Tuesday 1st July. We welcome both new and returning players of all ages and abilities. It promises to be an exciting campaign for all three of our league sides.
