Avon 15-44 Midsomer Norton
The third fixture of the season saw Norton travel to the only other side in the league who had taken 10 points from their opening two games.
The first half was a tight affair with Norton’s misfiring set piece presenting them few real opportunities and the hosts took the lead after half an hour with a penalty in front of the posts. However MNRFC would soon take the lead after a scrappy lineout victory allowed Jeffery to power over. Rideout added a conversion and penalty of his own before half time to give Norton a hard fought lead at the interval (3-10).
Another Rideout penalty was followed by a Humphries try in the corner before Jeffery got his second of the match as Norton began to pull away. However Avon were soon back down the other end to cut the deficit (8-25).
Any hopes of an unlikely comeback were dashed as speedster Martin scored a brace, before Avon and Humphries both added their second tries of the afternoon. Rideout, impressive with the boot once more, picked up another three conversions in the second half to take his tally to 52 points after just three matches.
