Midsomer Norton 68 - 15 Cheddar
Following a stormy night the sun was shining and the floor was wet Nortons U15s were to play their first half into the wind but the elements were not going to slow the boys after their recent taste for victory.
Within one minute Dawid put Norton on the scoreboard after allowing Paul G to open the gates for a nearly flawless day of conversions for the boys in red and white. Less than five minutes after Nortons first try Teo chose his time to pull out of a maul following a line out that ended in Nor’s favour and used his strength to put their second try over the line. The steep angle into the wind was no problem for Paul G who made it 14 points to Norton.
Cheddar managed to get the ball into the home sides 22 and pushed Norton into causing a penalty where they scored a 3 point penalty kick.
Approaching the 15 minute mark Cheddar were putting up a good fight but Harry W saw his opportunity and after a couple good attempts to stop him he placed the ball right between the posts.
The visitors pushed back hard after the kick off and the game was staying around the halfway line, a couple of good phases in Norton's favour and Sam D saw his gap, sped out of a ruck breaking away with a pace that Cheddar couldn’t match placing the ball ready for another conversion.
Sonny T made a break for goal line but the ref blew the whistle shortly before he managed to touch down taking a scrum back to Cheddar's 22, Joe M managed to react quickly and get the ball straight to Paul G who secured another five points for Norton.
The second half meant that the home side had the wind behind them and after a failed kick to touch from Cheddar, Paul G made another massive run starting the second half as they finished the first claiming his second try.
Cheddar held their ground and dug deep making some massive tackles and gaining some territory, it wasn’t long though before Harry W set his sights on the try line and drove straight forward allowing nothing or no one to stop him placing his second ball down.
Dawid wasn’t too far behind and wanted to keep his tally up by doing what he does best, putting his head down and resisting all efforts to slow him adding another five points to the board.
Cheddar were proving harder and harder to contain there was only one person to show them that Norton meant business, Deacon took possession of the ball, anyone that knows him knows that the only thing that ball was going to see was the grass the other side of the try line.
Midsomer Norton played a fluid game of rugby with the forwards driving hard and the backs working seamlessly together.
Midsomer Nortons U15s next game is to Wells away on 6/11/22 KO 11am
